I was born the third out of four children and had a very active childhood as my parents encouraged me to be involved in activities to promote life skills. I was involved in music, sports, church, youth camps, and travelled extensively throughout my adolescent years. At a young age, I was introduced to Music by the founder and director of the Entertainers Music School in my church, where I performed in various concerts, music festivals and tours. I have toured various countries such as French Guiane, Venezuela, Singapore, Japan, Barbados, Martinique, Jamaica and Washington DC. After acquiring advanced music grades, I was encouraged by my music teacher to start tutoring the beginner students in music theory, recorder and the steelpan. These students ranged from as young as four years to adults in their forties and fifties. This exposure benefitted me as I acquired a wealth of knowledge and skills as I taught and prepared my students for music festivals and concerts. This is when I realized that I enjoyed teaching and decided to pursue teaching as a profession. Teaching is important to me as it requires an exemplary understanding of human nature simply because in a single setting, one might be responsible for individuals of varied intellectual levels and groups that display a vast continuum of needs from reduction of anxiety to deeper self understanding. 'Aim High’, and 'It is learned for the benefit of all’ are two mottos that I live by which demonstrates a desire to always do my best in whatever field I am in and reach those I teach by sharing my knowledge, experiences and talents. I believe that when an individual acquires knowledge, that knowledge should as far as possible be imparted to others. I am a person who always tries to maintain a straight path amid mounting pressure and am described by my former teacher as a stickler for rules and always putting out yeoman service. I have been teaching at a Secondary School for the past eight years, and as I continue to educate myself, I learn more about my students that I teach. During these years, my experiences have been both challenging and rewarding.
